Ashley Wren Collins Directing & Choreography

Recent NYC stage directing and/or choreography includes: excerpts of Land Grab at The Culture Project; La Muse Venale’s world premiere of the off-Broadway musical Flak House (director/choreographer); Medicine Show Theatre’s production of Vladimir Mayakovsky’s The Bedbug; world premieres of Gay Boy (Dream Up Festival, Queerly Festival, Frigid Festival), The Chaos Theory of Now (Dixon Place, Dream Up Festival) and I’m Mindful…of My Anxiety (Medicine Show Theatre). Ashley made her film directorial debut with i only miss you when i’m breathing, starring country singer/songwriter Phil Vassar and Lori Fischer (world premiere, Nashville Film Festival). Ashley shared her creative process in working on the film an interview with We Are Moving Stories.

 

Ashley was a participant in the 2015 Directors Lab at Lincoln Center Theater and the recipient of an Alumni Lab Grant from the American Repertory Theater. Since 2010, she has directed the emerging works of BFA and MFA in Dramatic Writing candidates at New York University in classes led by playwrights Eduardo Machado, Daniel Goldfarb and Rinne Groff. Ashley is a member of New York Women in Film & Television and the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society.
